As a recent transplant to Brooklyn, it’s been an amazing experience exploring the neighborhood of Bed-Stuy. There is a rise in cool coffee shops, fun bars, and more. Captain Dan’s Good Time Tavern
If you enjoy a good happy hour and amazing food, then you need to check this place out! During happy hour, drinks are $1 off and you can even order a beer and shot combo. While the food menu is somewhat limited, everything that is offered is incredibly delicious. The double cheddar burger is a hit here and if you come during lunchtime, 12-5pm, you can order a burger and beer for only $15! Also, make sure to try their yummy cocktails such as the Tiny Dancer (tequila, honey, hibiscus, and lime) or Chilled by Death (bourbon, fernet branca, lemon, and honey) among others.
Black Swan
This British pub is great for drinks, food, brunch, and awesome deals throughout the week! The brunch here is definitely my favorite and I go several times a month. You could choose from chicken & waffles to French toast to a traditional English breakfast. Also, you can’t beat the unlimited Mimosas for $15 either! Happy hour is awesome with $5 drafts, wine, and well drinks and $3 shots! Also, every day is a new special that you can’t beat! On Mondays, if you’re a wino like myself, then take advantage of the half off bottles. Taco Thursdays are the best with $4 tacos and $6 margaritas! Check their website for more specials here!
Project Parlor
A fun, dive neighborhood bar, it’s a great place to hang out with friends and relax with a delicious drink in hand. You could even hang out in the outside patio, which is a big hit in the summer. There’s even board games, darts, and more to make the rest of your evening memorable. For happy hour, it’s a buy one get one, which is like getting two drinks for the price of one. There’s also a DJ who plays and definitely gets the crowd going!
The Corners
This bar just opened less than two months ago and already attracts the crowds. There’s a great music selection that plays while you drink amazing cocktails. This bar is cash only but definitely worth checking out! Some of their well-crafted cocktails include Sababa (Tito’s, lime, orange bitters, and soda) or Avenue (barrel aged bourbon, sweet vermouth, and Campari) among others.
